A permanent slow-flowing stream runs through San Andres Canyon.
As at the Cerro Colorado site, we found 26 species of succulents on our first visit. However, further survey did not turn up many additional species.
This is a smaller area than Cerro Colorado, ca. 2 sq. km as compared to 10 sq. km.
The Pachycormus forest on this hill also has some Euphorbia misera (left foreground) and Hesperoyucca whipplei ssp. eremica.

On windswept coastal slopes Pachycormus discolor is flattened. The growth form can get even more extreme than this one.
