On Labor Day 2012, the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum celebrates its 60th Anniversary. Since its founding in 1952, the Desert Museum's mission has been to instill in visitors a deeper understanding, appreciation, and concern for stewardship of the remarkable ecosystem of Sonoran Desert region.
Since its inception, the Museum has undergone many changes, unveiled many new exhibits like Life on the Rocks and the expanded Amphibian, Reptile and Invertebrate Hall. The Museum has also introduced new live animal programs like Running Wild, Live and (sort of) on the Loose, and Raptor Free Flight.
But even after six decades, the Museum continues to grow launching new programs and opening new exhibits. The Museum's 60th year will be full of new activities including:
