Butterfly Gardening in the Sonoran Desert

The ecology and natural history of many butterflies (and a few moths) which are common to our region will be discussed. Examples will cover their life cycle from egg to larva to pupa to adult. The presentation will also talk about a number of native Sonoran region plants that are attractive to our local butterflies. An explanation will be provided as to the necessity of planting both larval and nectar plants, and helpful horticultural advice will be offered to assist homeowners with implementation of a successful and enjoyable butterfly habitat.
