Rachel's Story

 Earth Camp 2010: Rachel Cleveland

One experience at Earth camp that had the greatest affect on me was when we went to the Saguaro Harvest Campout. Before then I was never a real big nature person but being outside with the desert animals, cacti, and the mesmerizing night sky changed my perspective. The moon was bright and stars were shining among the clouds and the nocturnal animals' night was just beginning as ours ended. I saw the sky at a different angle in my eyes. Everything was so beautiful in the sun’s absence. The Saguaro cacti were huge and blossoming with fruits that were amazing. And although I was hoping to see a non-venomous snake, this experience caused me to make the change of when I see a native cacti I will plant it under a nurse tree in my yard and I will encourage others to do the same.
