Reyna's Story

Earth Camp Commitment

Greetings Earthlings, My name is Reyna and this is my Earthcamp Comittment.

I am planning on conserving energy by installing solar panels on my house. Conserving the sun's energy can be really useful. If you use the enrgy of the sun with solar panels instead of electricity from an electric power company, you can save hundreds of dollars a month. You can also save the earths atmosphere by using solar panels because regular electricity releases carbon into the air and intoxicates the Earth and us as humans living on it.

It's also my goal to reduce light pollution by changing the not-so-good light bulbs into good light bulb and to shield them properly. With more light pollution in our night sky the harder it is to see the beautiful stars and planets for us as well as the astronomers who study them. 2 billion dollars is wasted on light that isn't used. So your money and the light being wasted is a loose-loose situation!

So conserving energy by using solar panles and reducing light pollution can save our Earth. Help make a difference.

The experiences I had at camp that motivated me to make this commitment was going to Solar Path and the NOAO Light Pollution presentation. NOAO taught me how big of an impact that humans can make with the lights we use. Solar Path showed me that you can have light by using the suns light and energy and not just regular electricity.
