Callum's Story
Earth Camp Commitment
My Earth Camp commitment is to hook up a grey water system to my washing machine to water the fruit trees and plants around my house. This will save water in two ways. First the water used to clean our clothes will not go to a water treatment plant instead it will be reused, second my family will not use any extra water watering plants. I was inspired to do this by a great man named Brad Lancaster. He lives off the grid with the use of grey water and rain water harvesting. I have decided to do this because with my large family of 8 we are running the washing machine almost every day. With the washing machine watering plants daily we will be able to use our time doing other things instead of watering plants. I believe I will be able to do this because my step dad has a construction business so he and I can set up the system. With the large amount of grey water being produced we can have more plants in our back yards and lower our water bill by not using water from the hose. I will research how to build the system and to find different biodegradable soaps that I can use.
