Sips with Scientists: It's National Pollinator Week!

Tuesday, June 23, 5:00 pm MSTThe current time in the MST timezone is 9:34 pm
Duration: 30 minutes

Adults — this one’s for you! Grab a bevy and tune in to laugh and learn at a virtual and educational happy hour. Join the Desert Museum’s Education Manager, Catherine Bartlett, as she interviews scientists from around the world — and not necessarily about their area of expertise! Be silly. Be surprised. BYOB.

This week we’ll meet two self proclaimed butterfly aficionados and #scicomm-ers! Dr. Katy Prudic is the co-creator of eButterfly, a community science webplatform that helps her study how climate change is impacting pollinators. At the University of Arizona she teaches courses on conservation, climate change, and how to be a better computer programmer even when you don’t want to. Jazmyn Winzer is a student at the University of Arizona majoring in Africana studies and biology. She is the organizer for the Adopt-A-Butterfly program and is an avid butterfly photographer. She has done work in forest fire ecology, public health, mosquito borne illness, integrated pest management, community science, and science communication. In her spare time she watches historical dramas and sings with her dogs.

“We booked a MuZoom for our granddaughter’s birthday. It was a home-run experience! She loved it, and the porcupine was terribly cute!”
