Sonoran Sea Aquarium School Outreach Programs
The Sea Aquarium offers a variety of learning experiences for students which can be tailored to fit teacher's needs. Sonoran Sea Aquarium programs are offered at the Desert Museum.
The Sonoran Sea Aquarium ™ Education and Outreach Programs are uniquely designed for students with dynamic presentations about the aquatic environments of Arizona and Mexico . Included in the classes are facts about the rivers and their conservation, native fishes , facts about the Gulf of California and its marine life . We carry a strong message of environmental stewardship in all that we share with the children. All of our classes are designed for a "hands-on" learning experience . Children will have the chance to see, touch, and smell everything from corals to shells, invertebrates, fishes, bones, fossils, sharks and whale artifacts and lots of sand . Our education staff will answer their questions as they explore.
If your classes are involved in a specific aquatic unit , Sonoran Sea Aquarium education staff can present to classes on specific topics such as fishes, coral reefs, tidepools, sharks, seashells, mammals, Arizona rivers, conservation, and others . Please visit our website for a list of specialty classes.
The Sonoran Sea Aquarium's Education and Outreach Programs are correlated with the Arizona Academic Standards in Science and cover a variety of topics that enhance classroom curriculum . Included with scheduled outreach presentations are teacher information packets with pre- and post-visit learning materials , handouts, and activities designed to make the most of a Sonoran Sea Aquarium experience.
