Thursday, May 9, 2024
Time: 7:00am-11:00am

Organization: Quail Canyon HOA
Description: Stinknet, the most aggressive invasive plant that AZ has ever seen, is about to drop its seeds. Not much time left to do anything about it this year. We'll walk along Territory Drive, and maybe venture onto some side streets. We hopefully will not find a lot of stinknet, but there will be birds and flowering cacti to see. In surrounding areas people have been finding scattered individuals, but there is likely a bigger infestation lurking somewhere nearby. Stinknet is a winter annual, so no tools are required, especially at this stage of development.
Meeting Location: Meet at the northern end of the parking lot in front of Sierra Fitness/Chad & Sons.
Event location: 5455 N Kolb, Tucson, AZ, 85750
Volunteers: 0 registered out of a total capacity of 5
Tools Provided: none
Bring: gallon ziploc
Wear: gloves, high-visibility clothing, comfortable walking shoes, sun protection, water
Additional Information: If you're interested, you can also learn other about non-native invasive plants living in Tucson's desert. Check out stinknet dot org to see a map of stinknet locations, and to learn more about this existential threat to the ecosystem and our property and health.
