Portfolio Development Independent Study Workshop
Get out of the heat and into serious art-making. The Portfolio Development Independent Study Workshop is designed for the highly motivated Nature Illustration Certificate candidate who can work independently while developing one or more portfolio pieces. Requirements for the Nature Illustration Certificate include five portfolio pieces that are both artistic and scientifically accurate. This workshop allows uninterrupted time in a studio setting at the Art Institute to work on a current portfolio piece, develop a new one or develop interesting ideas for future works. Limited enrollment means you can spread out and create with ample space while enjoying the camaraderie of fellow artists. You can work from available specimens, and be inspired by plants and animals in their natural settings at the Desert Museum, or artworks on display in the Ironwood Gallery.
This workshop does not include structured instruction. Students work independently and have one-to-one interaction with an on-site instructor on Tuesdays who can provide artistic guidance for portfolio development or arrange for in-progress feedback from experts at the Desert Museum. You can feel more confident about meeting portfolio requirements for artistic technique and scientific accuracy because changes can be made before the portfolio is submitted for review. The possibilities for artistic growth are unlimited.
Cost: $150/session members & $200/session non-members
